1. Ohio U will go undefeated.
Ohio has gotten passed two of the toughest teams they will face all year long. (Penn State and Marshall) Ohio is in line to go undefeated and in week four pretty much have the MAC sealed up, even though there are some teams that could give them trouble. Upcoming schedule for Ohio: S. 29 at UMASS O. 6 vs. Buffalo O. 13 vs. Akron O. 27 at Miami (OH) N. 1 vs. Eastern Michigan N. 7 vs. Bowling Green N. 14 at Ball State N. 23 at Kent State 2. Denard Robinson is not a Heisman contender. Denard Robinson is no doubt the most electrifying quarterback in college football, but he does not perform well in big games. Versus Alabama and Notre Dame Robinson has thrown six interceptions with only one touchdown. Heisman winners get the most attention and the most respect for their performances in big games, which is why Robinson will not be making a trip to New York. 3. Oklahoma is not who the media thought they were. I personally thought Oklahoma would not live up to their high preseason rankings which is why I has them finishing second in the Big 12. Even with that predicted, I still didn't see Oklahoma struggling in their first three games as they have been. I was not surprised Oklahoma lost to Kansas State but just surprised how poorly the Sooners played. Landry Jones's draft stock is declining each week. 4. Rutgers is no fluke. They are not flashy and won't light up the scoreboard but Rutgers is a solid football team. The Scarlet Knights went into a struggling Arkansas team and defeated the Razorbacks 35-26. Even though Louisville seems to be the team to beat in the Big East but watch out for Rutgers. 5. Baylor is good enough without RGIII. Yes, Robert Griffin is irreplaceable but Baylor has performed just fine without the first round draft pick as their quarterback. The Bears have averaged 51 points in their first three games and Nick Florence has thrown for 1,004 yards with 11 touchdowns. Baylor may not be the team they were a year ago without key players but head coach Art Briles have the Bears more competitive than ever. 6. Virginia Tech has some awesome uniforms. Photo above list. 7. Florida State is not the FSU of the past two years. Florida State has now turned their potential into a national power. Quarterback EJ Manuel has become the player he was supposed to be and the defense is arguably the best in the country. With the highly touted players and excellent coaches the Noles have their eyes on an ACC title and possibly a national title which is in Miami. 8. Marcus Lattimore is back! Even though Marcus Lattimore of South Carolina was cleared to play at the beginning of the season, but the junior was still not "the" Lattimore the nation was used to seeing. Now, Lattimore seems to have his rhythym back and is ready to lead South Carolina to an East title.
1. Stanford is good enough without Luck. (No pun intended)
Andrew Luck was no doubt one of the big reasons Stanford saw unbelievable results these past few seasons. But with Luck gone it's hard to see Stanford still be a top dog in the conference. All that doubt went away when the Cardinal defeated the Trojans this Saturday. Stanford quarterback Josh Nunes is no Luck as he completed less than 50% of his passes and had two interceptions but in the end all that matters is that "W". 2. Texas is the best team in the Big 12. Even though, I listed Texas as my favorite to win the Big 12 in my preseason guide, they showed me and the nation that they can stand by my prediction. Texas put an outstanding 66 points on the board versus an improved Ole Miss team. The Longhorns also finished the game with 676 total yards with an impressive performance from David Ash. The defense is solid and the offense seems to be back to normal. Watch out for this Longhorn team! 3. Notre Dame is legit. Well, Lou Holtz might have actually gotten us this year. Notre Dame has looked its best since Kelly has been there. This season Notre Dame has defeated Navy, Purdue, and Michigan State. Now the Irish host Michigan in a game which was settled in the last seconds a year ago, with a solid performance by Denard Robinson. The defense will need to make plays to keep the Irish unbeaten. 4. Alabama is the best team in the country by far. Mostly everyone saw Alabama winning by a huge margin over Arkansas but not many saw the Tide winning 52-0! To think that Alabama would see any drop off from last year to now, was a crazy thought. This Alabama team is not last year's edition but this team is still the best in the country and are well on their way to another national title. 5. Logan Thomas is not ready for the NFL. Logan Thomas has been viewed and ranked as the number two quarterback eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft. I was never sold on his passing attack but he is still a heck of an athlete. Thomas had a very poor game versus Pittsburgh losing 35-17 with a game in which the 6'6 260 pounder for Virginia Tech, threw three interceptions. Thomas's decision making is what concerns me and probably many viewers in the country. If Thomas can rebound and become a solid passer, he will sneak back up the draft boards and find himself as a first round draft choice. 6. Brett Hundley is a star. The four-star quarterback from Chandler, Arizona has become a big time star in Los Angeles. Hundley is a huge reason why the Bruins have the success they have on offense. The UCLA redshirt freshman quarterback has thrown for 827 yards with eight touchdowns. Hundley has a bright future ahead of him and looks to be a future first round draft choice. 7. Seth Doege is the best quarterback no one is talking about. Seth Doege has a 12:1 TD:interception ratio so far this season. I don't care if Texas Tech hasn't played a solid team yet, but stats like that are even difficult on XBox. Doege was known for his phenomenal performance versus Oklahoma last season but now has proven he fits the Big 12's quarterback standards. 8. Geno Smith is the best quarterback in the country. Some of you may have said this before the season but Geno Smith is the most accurate quarterback in the country and has now, in my opinion, passed Matt Barkley as the best quarterback in the nation. Smith has completed 88% of his passes in two games this season with nine touchdowns with 75 passing attempts. The West Virginia quarterback is the most accurate and the most complete quarterback in the country. A number one draft choice and/or a Heisman is not out of the question for Geno.
1. Miami and Auburn will have a tough time getting to .500 Whether, you are a fan or not, you know that these two high profiled programs will take a blow below the waist this season due to the inconsistency on both sides of the ball and death row on the schedules. Miami is 1-1 but got walloped by Kansas State 52-13 Saturday and didn't show much promise as the Canes only rushed for 40 yards. Miami gets Bethune-Cookman at home next week but then has to travel to Georgia Tech, host NC State, then travel to Notre Dame and welcome North Carolina, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. Even with those games being at home, doesn't mean it makes the task simpler. Look for Miami to go into the final game at Duke with only four wins, maybe five. As for Auburn, it doesn't look good. Auburn is 0-2 and has shown some if any potential. Kiehl Frazier seemed to be the x-factor in the offseason but is struggling against two mediocre defenses in which it will only get tougher later down the road. The Tigers are young, but I think the Auburn fan base is tired of hearing that. Auburn will have to pull an upset just to get to six wins.
2. Wisconsin misses Russell Wilson more than expected. Russell Wilson is currently getting ready to suit up for the Seattle Seahawks to start his first career NFL game. That should tell you enough. It's not as current Wisconsin quarterback Danny O'Brien is underachieving but the fact that he is no where near to the talent level of Wilson, is what is hurting the Badger's offense. O'Brien is a good quarterback but doesn't have the ability to change a game on one play like Wilson did. (has) As for the Badgers as a whole, the team is far away from making a third trip to Pasadena in the past three years. 3. Savannah State never needs to accept a FBS invite again. Savannah State has faced two quality BCS teams in Oklahoma State and Florida State. Both teams ranked in my preseason top fifteen. Savannah State lost a combined 139-0 and has been out gained in total yardage in both games. (1,095 to 167) This past weekend, the Tigers caught a break as the game in Tallahassee was cut short due to weather. 4. UCLA is legit. Even in week two, I feel comfortable saying that UCLA is the best they have been in years and is a threat in the Pac 12. UCLA seems to finally have found a quarterback which was lacking throughout Neuheisal's stretch in LA. Redshirt freshman Brett Hundley has brought a spark to the team as he has already thrown for 507 yards with six touchdowns. The offense has had back-to-back 600-plus yard games. I don't care who they play against, but if you can leave a game with 600 yards of total offense and at least 36 points on the scoreboard, you're going to win football games and many at that. Head coach Jim Mora, Jr. has a good thing going for him in his first year. I am on the UCLA bandwagon this season!! 5. The two new additions to the SEC are good enough. Even though the two newbies went 0-2 in their openers this weekend, both teams showed that they can hang in with the SEC. Texas A&M especially showed that they are capable of giving gray hairs to some coaches in the West. The Aggies have a decent offense and a stout defense, which is vital in their new home. Missouri looked pretty well against a team that could find themselves in a BCS bowl in January. Missouri hung in there until an interception by Jarvis Jones which seemed to suck the life out of the new Tigers of the SEC. Even with the two losses, both teams will find themselves being strong contenders in the near future. 6. Florida might have a chance this season. You may think I am crazy for saying this but Florida has a chance to be heavy contenders for the SEC East title this season. Florida has not played a well-rounded game yet but are 2-0 regardless. Jeff Driskel has played just fine in his first two games this season. Driskel is 23-32 with 276 yards and one touchdown. The defense performed to their normal caliber this weekend giving up 334 yards to a team that averaged 490 last season. The offense will get better every week and the defense will get stronger as they are still struggling to be 100% healthy. Look for the Gators to be neck and neck with Georgia and South Carolina in the East when the Gators face Georgia in Jacksonville on October 27. 7. Todd Gurley is the best freshman in the SEC. Georgia was expected to have a high caliber freshman making headlines this preseason but most of those arrows were pointing toward Keith Marshall not Todd Gurley. The freshman out of Tarboro, North Carolina has rushed for 165 yards on only 18 carries this season! Gurley has made many headlines and looks to be the starting tailback for the Bulldogs for a long time! 8. Penn State's biggest loss is not Silas Redd. The defense has played good and the offense has played well enough for the Lions to be 2-0, but they are standing in at 0-2. This past weekend the Lions were well on their way to winning their first game until Sam Ficken missed a field goal at the end of the game which would have given Penn State a two point victory over Virginia. Ficken missed four field goals in Penn State's second loss of the season. Anthony Fera, the 2011 kicker, took advantage of the NCAA letting Penn State players transfer with no penalty. Fera decided to enroll at Texas to finish his college career. These are my Week Two predictions of the college football season. I predicted all my scores for ONLY the teams that have head-to-head games with FBS schools. So, if your team is not on here, they must be playing a FCS team.
